One Ton of Illegal Fireworks Seized in Oakland

Police in Oakland, California, recovered 2,000 pounds of illegal fireworks during an undercover raid, the largest amount ever seized in the city’s history. Included in the haul were bottle rockets, mortar shells and m1000 fireworks, along with several weapons including two rifles, a TEC-9 assault pistol and a stolen .380 handgun, according to KTVU. Two men, a father and son, were arrested for possession of illegal explosives and firearms. The majority of the fireworks seized were of Chinese origin, police said, and featured names like ‘Color Bamboo Stick Sparklers’, ‘Flaming Ball Shooters’, ‘Jumping Jack Firecrackers’ and ‘Thunder Bomb Firecrackers,’ according to Mercury News.
