Would This Be Legal in China?

By Stan

ADVERTISEMENTS

To go along with last post’s racist humor, I’ll now dive into a pit of juvenile depravity. I’m doing well today — I’ve no doubt attracted lots of teenage skinheads to my readership.

Question: if Burger King decides to sell its new sandwich, the “BK Super Seven Incher” (yes, that’s really the name) in China (it’s already in Singapore), and it decides to run with the media campaign adopted for the U.S. market, will it run afoul of the PRC Porn Police (a.k.a. The Boobies Brigade)?

Wait, before you answer, take a look at one of the print ads, referred to by one commentator as “the most overtly blow-jobby ad I’ve ever seen.” Indeed.

bksevenincher

In addition to the Fellini-inspired visual, note the fine print encouraging customers to “Fill your desire for something long, juicy and . . .”

Yeah, we understand where you’re going with this. By the way, why so much mayonnaise in the pic for a burger hyped as having A1 steak sauce? Seems kind of strange . . . oh, wait a minute, I get it. That’s disgusting.

I sure hope this is a real story and not something from the pages of The Onion. Bona fide corporate stupidity is much more fun than satire. Talk about a whopper . . .
