The American Civil Liberties Union has a web site devoted to opposing the Real ID Act of 2005, the federal law that requires states to spend vast sums of money to revamp drivers licenses to make it impossible for illegally present immigrants to get the documents. Opponents of Real ID include an interesting mix of civil liberties groups, pro-immigration advocates and conservatives opposed to too much government intrusion in our lives.
