Paralegal Posting of the Week: Work in Brussels

By Lynne DeVenny

ADVERTISEMENTS
Ever since I saw the movie In Bruges, any city in Belgium has moved to my top travel destination. Sometimes I watch this little gem of a hapless hitman comedy just for its awe-inspiring travelogue qualities (and not for Colin Farrell, well maybe a little for Colin).

Were I 20 years younger and not raising tweens and dogs, the opportunity to work in Belgium would seem like the opportunity of a lifetime. But for those of you who are foot-loose, fancy-free and French-speaking, Latham & Watkins, a multinational business law firm with offices in Brussels, is seeking a Litigation/Corporate Paralegal.

Requirements for this job are:

Degree: "Successful completion of an undergraduate university education with excellent results"
Experience: 1-3 years
Software: "High aptitude for learning new systems and software"
Skills: "Adept at problem solving and finding smart, time-efficient solutions; capable of managing complex projects; flexibility to travel and work overtime"
Other: "Fluency in English and at least one other European Language"

Candidates who speak French would likely have an edge in this major center for international politics. The initial application process requires a cover letter and a resume directed to the administrator for the Brussels office.

Ever interested in international cuisine, I was startled to learn that ?Brussels is known for its local waffle, its chocolate, its French fries and its numerous types of beers.? (Wikipedia)
