New partners for Dykema and Venable in LA

By Richard Binder

ADVERTISEMENTS

Dykema and Venable LLP each announced the addition of a new partner to their Los Angeles offices yesterday.

Thomas F. Hanley III made a lateral move from Freeman, Freeman & Smiley to join Dykema?s Real Estate Practice Group, while labor and employment attorney Richard J. Frey, a former partner with McDermott, Will & Emery, has joined Venable.

Hanley?s practice focuses on all areas of transactional real estate law, with an emphasis on real estate finance, commercial leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, and commercial development, including multi-family projects, shopping centers, office buildings, industrial buildings, hotels and multi-asset portfolios, and entertainment. After attending Loyola Marymount University, Hanley graduated cum laude from Southwestern Law School and was admitted to practice in 1979. He later served as a peace negotiator during the conflict in Bosnia, successfully negotiating a cease-fire for the war and was the original architect of the American Plan which became the basis for the Dayton Accord ending the war.

Frey handles litigation for employment and management-side labor disputes. Most of his practice focuses on unfair competition, employee theft and trade secret litigation, as well as review and negotiation of executive employment contracts and covenants. A cum laude graduate of U.C. Santa Barbara and Pepperdine Law School, Frey was admitted to the State Bar in 1994.
