Dear Representative (insert your representative name here): I am writing to ask you to vote against LD 1157. At one time, the requirement for people to register for a crime of a sexual nature was determined by the court during sentencing. This had the safeguard of a criminal proceeding. The law has been amended many times. First, the sex offender registry was amended to make it retroactive. Then it was amended to include new offenses.
