Printing Statutes on LexisNexis

By Diane Murley

ADVERTISEMENTS

Yesterday I wrote about Printing Statutes on Westlaw. Today I will cover how to print, download, or email multiple sections using LexisNexis. LexisNexis gives you more flexibility in printing from its statutory codes.

When doing research in a statutory code, it is always a good idea to go to the table of contents to see where the sections you find fit into the statutory scheme. On LexisNexis there is a link to the TOC in the upper left corner of each statutory section. If you follow the link to the table of contents from 49 U.S.C.S. § 44901 you will see a detailed outline that looks like this:

LexisNexis outline of 49 U.S.C.S. 44901

Check the box before “Subchapter I. Requirements” to print, download, or email the entire subchapter. If you just want some of the sections, check the boxes before the individual sections. Then click on the Print, Download, or Email link in the upper right corner.

LexisNexis print options

A window will open, giving you several options. If you want all of the statutory sections to print in a continuous document, without page breaks, uncheck the box before “Each Doc New Page.” If you want to get just the text of the statutes, without notes or annotations, select Custom from the “Document View” menu and click on the Edit button. In the Custom View Options, uncheck all boxes except Unanno.
