Obama's Flag Response

By wt

ADVERTISEMENTS
I appreciate that Senator Obama took the time to reply to my blog post from yesterday.

The office is not yet filled with paid staffers. These were volunteers just opening the office.

Two points:

1) That's not the point. No one thought Obama decorated the office. The anti-Obama talking point is that his supporters are unpatriotic and disloyal to their country (in the actual way, not in the fake political accusation way).

2) The fact that it's so new that the office doesn't have paid staffers mitigates, but does not eliminate, the issue here.

Note that in the video, there is a (smaller) photo of Obama next to the (enormous) Cuban flag. So clearly, they had time to decorate, think about what should go up, and hey, show off the office to the news media. Bad call.

Still, I appreciate that Obama is stating that the flag is inappropriate. That's a classy way to answer criticisms. By not defending obviously inappropriate mistakes.
