: Structured Settlements 4RealHartford To Keep Life Insurance Business- Dow Jones
By John Darer
Just days after it was approved for $3.4 billion from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), The Hartford has announced that it WILL NOT BE SELLING its life insurance business.
The last few months had brought rampant speculation that Hartford has been trying to offload its life insurance and property/casualty operations first to Metlife and then to Sun Life of Canada.
Dow Jones Newswire first reported the above announcement purportedly through a leaked employee memo from CEO Ramani Ayer, in which he stated that the company would ?continue to operate strong wealth management and retirement business, including mutual funds, retirement plans and a structured annuities business. As a result, we will move forward with both property and casualty and life businesses.?
