My Congressman Passed Away

By wt

Rest in Peace, Tom Lantos.

From his Wikipedia entry:

Lantos was part of a resistance movement against the Nazis during the German occupation of Hungary. In his floor speeches, he sometimes referred to himself as one of the few living members of Congress who fought against fascism.

...

He was the only Holocaust survivor ever to serve in Congress. Upon immigrating to the United States under the auspices of Hillel he attended the University of Washington and the University of California, Berkeley, receiving his Ph.D in 1953.

I hope his family finds peace in the story of his biography.
