Fake Cop Stops Off-Duty Officer

When you’re impersonating an officer, there’s one person you don’t want to pull over ? a real cop. That’s exactly what happened to David Word of Surprise, Ariz., according to CBS affiliate KPHO. Word was taken into custody and charged with one count of impersonating an officer after he pulled over Avondale police Officer Matthew Lydic Tuesday. Word was driving a black Crown Victorian with red and yellow lights on top, according to Lydic, when he pulled over the off-duty officer. Word apparently told Lydic he had been driving 75 mph on the freeway. Word cautioned Lydic to drive more slowly, and let him leave without attempting to issue a citation. Lydic was on his way to work at the time of the stop. Lydic noted the license plate of the vehicle, and later matched it to Word...continue to full post
