At jail (or in the car) all day yesterday. In court this morning. I've been doing a little of everything, and it feels like the list of weird things I might be doing keeps getting bigger. Today I added reviewing a FOIA request that came back on CD, studying district court habeas jurisdiction over immigration issues really really fast, having a snippy conversation with the U.S. Marshals office, and trying to read some guy's long CORI (state criminal record) unobtrusively on the train home.
Last night I had a dream that Ruth Bader Ginsburg hired me to be her clerk. I was all emotional and thrilled that she'd hire me even though I never had another clerkship first. There was this creepy Skull and Bones type ceremony with curtains and candles where they brought in all the clerks to tell them they were hired and which justice had picked them. RBG had hired all female clerks because she was trying to make a statement that the President should appoint a woman to the bench. OK, sure.
Then I woke up at 5:30 and could only get back to sleep for 15 minutes at a time because I was thinking about habeas jurisdiction. There's a lot going on in my head right now. I'm enjoying it, though. Just going to bed early tonight.
