: Peanut Butter BurritoMother's Day Hijinks
By Andrea
Thanks for the Mother's Day wishes. It was a pretty uneventful weekend - pancakes, Thai food, heated discussion about what we've been learning about mortgages, fees, and yield spread premiums. I got a pedicure at the mall and let the lady do my eyebrows, except she heard "I don't want them too thin" as "Do them just like yours!" and beat my poor eyebrows into oblivion. It was sort of a shock in the mirror, but Dan barely even noticed and I actually think they look OK, I would just never maintain them like this. She told me to come back every 2 weeks, too, for more tweezer-on-brow violence. I'll pass.
On Sunday, Dan got up early for a squash date, and may or may not have closed the front door all the way so that it latched, because in the space of a couple of minutes when I was waking up and checking my email in the bedroom, Becca dashed out the door wearing just a PJ top and a diaper, carrying a board book. She started crawling backward down the stairs and was stopped by our downstairs neighbor before she could get out to the street and take the car out for coffee and donuts. I know, I am the best mother of all time.
Luckily, our apartment building is full of nice Brazilian parents of small children instead of ax murderers, and toddlers making a break for other people's apartments is fairly common. Still, I was very glad to have averted a major accident, even though my attempts to tell Becca not to do that again were met by her grinning at me and wandering off to talk on her plastic phone. Oh well.
