: Legal Pad | LAPolanski not frantic to return to U.S.

In a filing in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, attorneys for Roman Polanski said the filmmaker will not come back to the United States this week to meet a court deadline for his surrender, and nor should he have to.
Attorneys Chad Hummel and Douglas Dalton reasserted Polanski's claim that the original 1977 child sex case was tainted by judicial and prosecutorial wrongdoing. "The misconduct is plainly evident from the existing record," the attorneys wrote.
Judge Peter Espinoza said that he would deny Polanski's request for a dismissal if the director does not return by Thursday.
