Legal Legend Moran Passes Away

U.S. District Judge James B. Moran has passed away at the age of 78. Moran was appointed to the federal bench by President Jimmy Carter in 1979. He served as chief judge of the Northern District of Illinois for five years before his retirement in 1995. Prior to serving in the judiciary, Moran was a member of the Illinois General Assembly.

In 2008, the ACS Chicago Lawyer Chapter honored Judge Moran as a 'Legal Legend' for his exceptional career dedicated to furthering progressive values and ensuring the rule of law.
