Mehr zufällig bin ich über eine interessante Website gestolpert, die u.a. dazu gedacht ist, amerikanischen Grundschülern beizubringen, dass nicht alles, was im Internet steht auch korrekt ist. Auf All About Explorers gibt es eine Liste von Entdeckern, die diversen Unfug enthält, Beispiel Amerigo Vespucci:
Amerigo Vespucci was born in the United States of America around the year 1451. His parents named him after the wonderful country in which he was born. Unfortunately they were unable to pronounce ?America? properly, so he became known as Amerigo.
Eingesetzt wird die Website z.B. von Stephanie Rosalia, einer Schulbibliothekarin, die in einem Video und einem Artikel der New York Times vorgestellt wird. Ihr Job ist “to connect kids with books” und “website literacy” zu schulen. Es lohnt sich, das Video anzuschauen.
