The Wall Street Journal has a post today titled The Susan Boyle Bubble. Ms. Boyle was an unknown Scots woman who wowed the panel of judges — including Mr. Nasty Pants Simon Whatshisname — on “Britain’s Got Talent” by belting out an amazing rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Mis. If you have a spare 7 minutes, you might want to watch it. Just so you’re not the last person on the planet to do so. Because as of right now, her vid’s been viewed 12,988,039 times. Since Saturday night. That’s like 2.6 million views a day.

I admit I watched the video. I didn’t get teary-eyed, but she’s pretty darn good. And I never would have heard of her, like I never would have learned about Rudy Pausch and his Last Lecture, were it not for social networking sites such as YouTube.

And forty-five — 45! — people wouldn’t have been able to oooh and ahhh over my stunning Wonder Wheel video, either.
