: Southern District of FloridaMore on Ben
By David Oscar Markus
1. The Southern District of Florida U.S. Attorney's Office did not sign the indictment. It recused.
2. Ben's legal team has already filed a motion to ask for an early status conference to address "unprecedented" issues.
3. Lots of coverage around the blogosphere and the press. TalkLeft, AbovetheLaw, Discourse, WSJ.
4. Did Ben's politics have something to do with it? In the Herald Jeff Weiner said:
Jeffrey Weiner, a Miami attorney and a past president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, said he was ''deeply disheartened'' that the Justice Department would go after such an ``honorable lawyer.''
''I cannot help but wonder whether Ben's liberal, Democratic politics has something to do with this,'' Weiner said.
In today's DBR, he said:
Miami attorney Jeffrey Weiner, a former president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, said he didn?t believe the indictment was political. Weiner knows Sellers and said he is ?above playing politics with anyone, especially and including a lawyer.?
So what do you all think?
