Mass. Agency Dismisses Associate?s Holiday-Party Drugging Claim

By Ashby Jones

ADVERTISEMENTS

In May of last year, we were alerted to a strange allegation involving a former associate at Bingham McCutchen in Boston named Michelle Moor. Moor had filed a discrimination complaint against Bingham, claiming it failed to promptly investigate her allegation that she had been drugged at a firm holiday party.

At the time, Bingham McCutchen stated: “We took Ms. Moor's report extremely seriously and were disappointed that she had decided to resign from the firm. . . The firm believes that at all times it acted diligently, responsibly and fairly in connection with information it received, including gathering relevant facts and conducting an appropriate and thorough investigation.”

Last week, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination dismissed Moor’s claim. Click here for Above the Law’s post on the dismissal.

The dismissal notice states:

Based upon the Commission’s investigation, the Commission is unable to conclude that the information obtained establishes a violation of the statutes.

As ATL notes, Moor has the ability to appeal the Commission’s ruling.

Said a spokeswoman for Bingham: “We are pleased with the MCAD’s finding and hope this ruling will bring an end to this matter.”
