Levin & Perconti files nursing home neglect lawsuit

Steven M. Levin and Michael F. Bonamarte of Chicago law firm Levin & Perconti have recently filed a nursing home neglect lawsuit on behalf of a 78-year-old resident neglected at Lincoln Home in Belleville, Illinois. Lincoln Home nursing home was also cited by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) for improper nursing care and injury of a resident. The nursing home assessed the resident upon his admission, noting that he was susceptible to falls and at risk for wandering. The facility was responsible for assisting the resident with the activities of daily living. The nursing home failed to monitor the resident's whereabouts and he was allowed to wander within and from the facility unsupervised on more than one occasion. One of these instances caused the resident to become injured after he wandered into a violent resident's room and was pushed causing him to fall to the floor, breaking his hip and sending him to the hospital for immediate surgery. The hospital staff also discovered pressure sores on the patient's body caused by nursing home staff allowing him to lie in his own waste for long periods of time. During the resident's stay, he lost 30 pounds at the facility. Since moving to a different home, the patient has improved in health and outlook but has been unable to recover from his fall.
