: Law Blog - WSJ.comThree Companies Indicted in Pet Food Poison Case
By Dan Slater
This just in: two Chinese companies and one U.S. company were indicted today for a series of tainted pet food incidents that killed dozens of animals last year. Here’s the AP story.
Xuzhou Anying Biologic Technology Development Co., Suzhou Textiles, Silk, Light Industrial Products, Arts & Crafts I/E Co. and Las Vegas-based Chemnutra Inc. were charged in two separate but related indictments. One of the indictments charges Xuzhou Anying Biologic and Suzhou Textiles with 13 counts of introducing adulterated food into interstate commerce and 13 counts of introduction of misbranded food into interstate commerce.
The owners of Chemnutra, Sally Quing Miller, 31, a Chinese national, and her husband, Stephen S. Miller, 55, were separately charged with 13 counts of introducing adulterated food into interstate commerce, 13 counts of introducting misbranded food into interstate commerce and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
A call to a Chemnutra spokesman was not immediately returned. We’ll update the post when more information becomes available.
