Huckabee Wins West Virgina; Romney Whines

Mike Huckabee walked away with the first big prize of the day. The West Virginia caucuses. Go 'eers!

But Mitt Romney whined that John McCain's voters, once their candidate looked like he wasn't viable, went to Mike Huckabee.

"Governor Romney had enough respect for the Republican voters of West Virginia to make an appeal to them about the future of the party based on issues. This is why he led on today's first ballot.

Sadly, Senator McCain cut a Washington backroom deal in a way that once again underscores his legacy of working against Republicans who are interested in championing conservative policies and rebuilding the party."

Wow. If the Romney camp has evidence of a "backroom deal" between John McCain and Mike Huckabee, they need to come out with it immediately.

Huckabee got McCain's votes and the delegates of the State of West Virginia. But what did Huckabee promise to McCain?

Not to attack him in other states? To compliment him on the rest of the trail? To serve as his Vice-President if asked?

Whatever Huckabee offered to McCain, it needs to come out from the Romney camp.

And it needs to be made clear how this deal was formed. In a backroom, apparently, but where? By McCain himself, or his surrogates?

As it is, the charge is very potent, and the Romney camp should probably reveal what it's found out.

And, uh, dude. You've been calling McCain a liberal and railing against him for a week. You think his supporters were going to run toward you as their second choice?

Lame.
