First Reaction to the Dell Adamo - Are These Guys Total Retards???

By Ross

ADVERTISEMENTS

I haven’t touched a Dell Adamo yet but I’m blown away by the seemingly obvious stupidity of this new product release. One look at their emailed promo today and it’s apparent. It looks like a Versace or Chanel ad. Models doing their lashes. Models twirling around in couture-ware with the laptop in hand. It’s absurd.

So what is an Adamo? It’s a Macbook Air wannabe, too late to a game Dell has never played. Does this sound familiar? Milled from a block of solid aluminum. Um . . . done guys, where ‘ya been? Glass edge to edge display. Hmm . . . seems like my Macbook came with one months ago.

And when you look at the actual purchasing options on Dell.com, I had to laugh. They have luxury packages. LUXURY packages. Buehler? Buehler? LUXURY PACKAGES NOW!!?? Yeah, that’s just what this economy is looking for - some $3038 “Entrepreneur” model with Office 2007 Home and Student edition??? Right - those entrepreneurs buying a “LUXURY” laptop with their VC money is about as palatable as AIG f*&kheads stealing our bailout money for absurdly unjustified “retention bonuses” for idiots who ALREADY LEFT AIG! Or the $3088 “JET-SETTER” edition replete with a Tumi sleeve? For who? Paris Hilton? Even SHE would think this is a very uncool machine.

And I left out the best part of the Adamo package . . . runs only on 64-bit Vista Home Premium - God’s digital punishment for the evils of humanity over all eternity.

I have no idea who Dell thinks is going to want to be seen with one of these. I think anyone buying one deserves to the be the laughing stock of whatever group they happen to find themselves in.

Does Michael Dell approve of this insanity? If he does, Dell’s shareholders should scream for his head on a block.

Sorry to be so vague about how I feel but this one really wound me up.
