Heath Ledger dies at age 28

ADVERTISEMENTS
A subject that people hate talking about is death. The circle of life assures us death will be upon us at some point. We all need to be ready.

Have you considered what you want to happen when you pass on? Most everyone thinks about what they want to happen to them, some wish to be buried in a family plot, or purchase a plot, while others wish to be cremated and have their ashes spread.

Dividing your possessions: We all think if something happens Brian will get my savings bonds, Uncle Joe my computers, etc. This is something that whether we write down or not, we have thought about.

The tricky part is figuring out who will gain custody of our children. Billy, Mike and Mary need a home. When Billy was born we were faced immediately with the thoughts if something happens to us who will take custody. Most everyone has expressed their wishes verbally if not written them out about their beloved children.

I think one of the most overlooked part of death is our family pets. We assume if we have children the same people will take custody of our pets. Don't assume that not everyone is a pet person. You need a plan for your pets just like your children.

So if you haven't considered if you want to be buried, who will get your possessions, who gets custody of your children and pets it's time to make that happen.

Look into your options talk to professionals. It's never too soon to make these plans concrete!
