Well, not mine.  But someone's.  The New York Times reviews a book of stories of women's first periods.  My initial reaction was: "ooh, if this is a success, maybe I could try and write (and sell) a parody book of stories about men's first wet dreams."  I don't actually want to do that, but if anyone does, you can thank me in the acknowledgements.

The Washington Post has a terrifying magazine story about parents who forget their babies in the car seat, leave them in the car all day, and come back to find them dead.  This is apparently an epidemic, and happens like fifty times a year.  In some jurisdictions, the parents are charged with manslaughter.  In other jurisdictions, they're not.  The article sort of attempts to make the parents sympathetic characters -- it could happen to anyone, these aren't bad people, they already feel so guilty about what they've done that the justice system can't accomplish anything beyond that -- but I didn't really feel all that much sympathy.  In one case, it was an adopted child, and now they're not allowed to adopt another one.  Well, no kidding.  I mean, I forgot my glasses in the library once, but I remembered about twenty minutes later and went back to get them.  I've forgotten umbrellas before.  But how in the world do you not only forget your baby is in the car -- but forget for the whole day?!  I've forgotten I put laundry in the dryer, but it doesn't take me all day to remember.  And laundry isn't a baby, and doesn't die if you leave it in the dryer too long (although people do sometimes take it out and leave me to wonder if any of it might have touched the ground in the process of being removed from the dryer, and if it did touch the ground, maybe I should really run it all again, because I don't want to sleep on a pillowcase that touched the ground, even if it only touched the ground for a few seconds).  Anyway, worth reading.

I watched the premiere of Kings last night on NBC.  I thought it was ok, but not sure it hooked me enough to watch next week.

Someone convinced me to join Twitter over the weekend.  I'm still not sure I need another blog-like outlet, especially one where I can only write a sentence at a time, but if you want to follow my twitter feed, search for my name and you'll find it.
