: Personal Injury Attorneys--Owen, Patterson & OwenMother Receives Surprising Wrongful Death Settlement
By Owen, Patterson & Owen
Carissa Tucker sued her mother and stepfather, after her 23-month-old son Sean Taylor Mink-Chisholm drowned in the pool at their home. According to the wrongful death and negligence suit, the child was in the care of his grandmother while Tucker was at work. The grandmother got distracted for about 10 minutes and that is when Sean wandered off and was later found in the pool. Texas law would not allow Tucker to sue the insurance company directly, compelling her to sue her mother and stepfather, according to the attorneys. A Rusk County judge said he is preparing to award Tucker $2.5 million, an award a lawyer calls extraordinary for a case involving a child?s death.
