ADVERTISEMENTS

I thought that my colleagues at the Make Voting Work initiative were the first to come up with the term “voter registration modernization.” I figured Doug Chapin deserves the credit.

I first heard the term outside of the Pew command center at a recent Project Vote / Demos / Barnard conference on voter registration held in New York City.  One speaker spoke approvingly of the term, wondering aloud who first coined the phrase.

Now I see that Robin Carnahan (MO) and Trey Grayson (KY) are on message, arguing for “the modernization of our voter registration system” in  Roll Call oped.
