By Anne Skove, Esq.
It's not often we get through an entire book that wasn't written by P.D. Eastman or Dr. Seuss.
So Scott Sundby's book, A Life and Death Decision: A Jury Weighs the Death Penalty, was a welcome and different change of pace. It's been awhile since we read and reviewed it elsewhere, but we're revisiting the book here for anyone who hasn't heard about it. It's that good.
Capital punishment, like it or not, is one of the country's top emo-issues. It's a touchstone for a host of other issues: religion, criminal justice, sentencing, and elections, to name a few. It touches families of victims and defendants alike.
This book isn't out to change your mind either way, but it will give you fascinating insight into the capital juror's mind. It will make you queasy, it will make you weep, it will make you re-think whatever position you have.
