: Dispatches from the Culture WarsA Fun Night of Poker
By Ed Brayton
So while I'm in Lansing, I wanted to play some poker at Tripper's, one of the largest and nicest charity poker rooms in the state. I've had good success there in the past and it's a fun place to play. I was gonna go Friday night, but since I had to be up so early on Saturday morning I just went back to the hotel and went to sleep. So Saturday night, after dinner with a friend, I headed over for some poker.
They had a bunch of 1/2 no limit games going, some of them with a $100 buyin and some with a $200 buyin. I got on both lists and got called for the $100 game first. Folded my first 4 hands then got called for the $200 game. That was pointless. Cashed out my chips, bought back in for the $200 table (two different charities, so two different kinds of chips) and headed for a new table.
