: Ross Ipsa LoquiturWatch for My Next Two SmallLaw Columns
By Ross
I’ve been overwhelmed by all the positive comments about my new Technolawyer column called “SmallLaw.” All my columns are posted on the Technolawyer blog after their initial community distributions. I just finished my next two columns, both appearing soon. They are:
- “It is a KitchenTop? A ConnectTop? A SecondTop? Asus? EEE Top Setting a New Precedent?” While the final published title may change, this column explores the latest innovation from Asus’ wildly successful EEE series of netbook-related systems. Find out why I think the soon-to-ship EEE Top model may start a “touch-feely” revolution on both lawyer’s desktops and on their kitchen counters.
- “The Rise of the BigSolo: Substantively Smart, Practice Management Challenged and Suddenly Solo - New Solos Leave BigLaw for SmallLaw” - this one documents a trend I’ve been seeing for about a year, which is accelerating. With the economy proving one of my 30+ 2009 predictions about the growing failure rate among BigLaw firms, new solos are being minted daily. These former large lawyers, either voluntarily emmigrating from BigLaw or being laid off or left high and dry by firm closure, are suddenly becoming solo and small firm lawyers. While they might be substantive experts, many have never had to run a law practice. What will this mean for “traditional” solo and small firms? What will it mean for the overall law practice landscape?
Love to hear your comments, thoughts and ideas for future SmallLaw columns - nothing’s off-limited, nothing’s sacred and you know I tend to never hold back!
