: The Common ScoldSLOW TECH
Bob Ambrogi, LTN's wonderful Web Watch columnist, (he also co-edits Law.com's Legal Blog Watch), got some nice coverage in Denise Magnell's "Legal industry slowly lifts the bar to tech adoption," which originally ran in the Boston Business Journal. The article also cites the most recent Am Law Tech Survey, conducted by our colleagues at Law Firm Inc.
The article reports that tech adoption is increasing -- and that LFI sez IT spending was up by 15% at BigLaw -- and that BlackBerrys and other PDAs are among the fastest growing technologies in law.
Bob observes that smaller firms, not larger, have pushed the profession into tech. "Overall, the legal profession has been innovative in its use of technology, but I think what has driven that use are the smaller firms having to make do with smaller budgets and fewer resources," he sez. "Technology has really leveled the playing field for many smaller firms."
