The Second Night

By Andrea

ADVERTISEMENTS

Went to class again last night, this time for two back-to-back seminars. It went well, although being away for five hours felt like I'd abandoned my family. My first class is right next to the nursing room and microwave, which will be important for future pumping and dinner-warming. I'm going to be three minutes late to my second class all semester, but I explained my schedule to the laid-back judge guy teaching the seminar, and instead of making a face, he just said, "You must be hungry!" At which I grinned and scurried off to heat my burrito. And relieve my boobs, of course.

After class, I went to dump my giant packets of readings in my locker and kind of got hit on by a Dominican janitor named Tito who was impressed with my Spanish. Then I realized I don't remember my locker combination. WTF. This is not good. I made it home to find Dan much more chipper than Monday, as Becca had been quite good and was sleeping peacefully. Looks like this might work after all.

On Tuesday, I took the Jeopardy! online test, which Dan insisted I take last year but which I skipped, to ridiculous consequences, as you all know. Pretty nerve-wracking. I know I just barely made what conventional wisdom says is their cutoff for an in-person audition, but thanks to Dan's reign of terror, I'm not your random trivia fan, so we'll see if they've had enough of the Pawson-Saenz Experience or they think it'd be nifty to have me too.

That night, I had a dream I was on the show - competing against Dan and a third person who didn't get to play Final Jeopardy. The Final question was some super-hard thing that didn't make sense, and I wrote down "What is Hawaiian pizza?" Dan wrote some other non sequitur, which was wrong and cost him $10K. I was wrong, too, but I had forgotten to write down any wager, and in the dream, this automatically meant a wager of $1000, so I lost less and won the game, collecting $13,000. Dan and I celebrated our dual success, and...this dream is not hard to analyze. I am not deep.
