: SoapBox Law"Nonpartisan avatar of hope and healing somehow has most liberal voting record in Senate"
But why? Where is this support coming from? I understand the Anyone But Hillary camp, I really do. There is a strong Anyone But McCain surge among the conservative base, yet among the 5 conservatives I know in the bay area, I?m the only one who flosses a dreamy Mitt Romney t-shirt despite Romney being the only viable conservative option left.
I know Obama is articulate and good looking but the best thing he has going for him is that he is not Hillary Clinton. And has any starry eyed Obama supporter ever actually listened to what he says? His words are intellectual twinkies. They are full of air. There is no substance to them whatsoever. Apparently saying the word ?change? without ever talking about actual policy specifics (health care for everybody, yay!) is not only sufficient to garner support among Democrats but it?s enough to leave them breathless.
Has any Obama supporter actually looked at his voting record? As the headline indicates, he has the most liberal voting record in the Senate! I understand why those on the far left would dig him just like I understand those on the far right would like someone like Tom Tancredo. Yet Tancredo is marginalized by his positions even among Republicans and Obama is deified in the media and the liberals. (Don?t get me wrong, I?m not a Tancredo guy, I?m just saying.)
I guess I have a problem with Obama?s ?most liberal senator? fact for two reasons: (1) It?s fine being a viable liberal candidate, I just hate the disingenuousness of advertising that most liberal candidate as somehow bi-partisan savior of all that is wrong in politics. It just underlines the nature of the use of the word ?unity? in this campaign merely means ?I want the country to unify under my banner of left wing extremism.? John McCain is actually bi-partisan which is one of the reasons I don?t like him. He?s like the inverse of Obama; a truly moderate guy trying to sell himself as a true conservative. Obama clearly is not a thoughtful bi-partisan savior. He?s just an articulate socialist. (2) I think I?m also a little jealous. Both Democratic candidates are tripping over themselves trying to seem the most liberal and the Democrats are loving it. However, our front runner McCain is also tripping over himself on his way leftward, and seems to have been doing so for sometime. Why can?t the conservative base get behind Mitt Romney, who is not as conservative as Obama is liberal but he?s certainly much further right than McCain? Why can?t our base be as influential as the liberal base?
I haven?t given up hope on the conservative base yet and still have faith that we can do something right on Super Tuesday and elect ourselves a real conservative in Mitt Romney. We?ll see.
