: P.I.S.S.D. -- Personal Injury, Social Security DisabilityLocal Retailers Assure Consumers That They Have Plan in Place for Recalls
By Robert Kraft
The Florida Times-Union (1/25, Salman) reported, "The recent recall of peanut butter products related to a salmonella outbreak that left more than 480 people sick and six dead nationally - although no illnesses were reported in Florida - has local retailers taking steps to ensure the problem is controlled." Natt Ambrosius, general manager of the Southside Native Sun said, "Food retail is a very fast-moving network." He added, "You need to have a very fast approach or people will get ill. It's often very difficult, but better safe than sorry."
New recalls in salmonella outbreak. The AP (1/25) reported that there were several more recalls in the salmonella scare. Among the new recalls were: "Arbonne International LLC is recalling certain lots of its Arbonne Figure 8 Peanut Butter Chews because the products could be contaminated with salmonella," "Whole Foods Market is recalling its Whole Foods Carob Energee Nuggets," "Jewel-Osco, a division of Supervalu Inc., is recalling its Happy Tails multi-flavored dog biscuits" and "Kellogg Co. announced the recall of two varieties of ShopRite brand peanut butter sandwich crackers."
The AP (1/23) reported, "Supreme Protein Inc. said Friday it is voluntarily recalling certain lots of its Supreme Protein Peanut Butter Crunch Bars and Caramel Nut Bars because they contain peanut paste which may have been exposed to salmonella bacteria at a Georgia manufacturing facility."
The Los Angeles Times (1/24) reported, "Trader Joe's today issued a voluntary recall of some products containing peanut butter linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened almost 500 people in 43 states."
