Letter to the Editor: ?Freedom for the Unborn, too?

By Phil

ADVERTISEMENTS

Excellent letter to the editor (a FReep post) of the News-Journal.com out of Longview, TX, sentiments with which I completely agree:

I am writing this on the eve of Barack Obama’s inauguration as president. As a Christian, I am going to pray for him, for his safety and the safety of his family. (What a beautiful family it is.) It is about time this country has an African-American president.

I will also pray that the Holy Spirt guide him and help him be a president for all the people, those Americans now walking this earth and those waiting in the womb.

“. . .[T]o ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it,” Martin Luther King Jr. said. King was killed before the Roe v. Wade ruling of the United States Supreme Court, so we don’t know what he would have said on this issue. I do know he had a dream for all of God’s children to live in freedom and safety and to be able to reach their full potential.

In God’s word, a pregnant woman is “with child” (Matt. 1:23). God’s word says ” . . . hands that shed innocent blood” (Prov. 6:17) are an abomination to him.

I welcome the day when, as King said, “a man will be judged not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.” I’m just concerned that too many of God’s children voted for Barack Obama because of the color of his skin without taking the time to examine the content of his character.

This is not a free country until all of our people are free. I have a dream that someday every child will have the freedom to be born.

May God bless our new President and open his eyes to the abomination that is abortion. As King said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Thad Nehrling, Longview

When posting this article, I had a bit of a struggle concerning the associated image I should use. I decided to use the one that I did (a model of a 12 week-old unborn child), though my thoughts on the subject absolutely compell me to make sure that you are aware of exactly what an abortion looks like.

As such, the following are two links that anyone should see. They both contain very graphic content, but the truth is the truth. I will not allow a posting concerning abortion on my site to go by without some sort of reference to the asanine brutality of this practice (it very much reminds me of when Scripture speaks of the Israelites literally frying up their infants to Molech):
