Announcement of National Student Essay Competition

By David

ADVERTISEMENTS

The Legal History and Rare Books Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) is pleased to announce the first annual Morris L. Cohen Student Essay Competition.

Currently enrolled students attending accredited graduate programs in law, history, library science, or related subjects are eligible to enter the competition. Papers may be on any topic related to legal history, rare law books, or legal archives.  The subject should be explored in depth with appropriate reference to sources.  The winner will receive a $500 prize and up to $1000 to be applied towards attendance at the AALL Annual Meeting, where they will have the opportunity to present the paper.  The winning paper will also receive serious consideration for publication in the Law Library Journal.  For more information, please see http://www.aallnet.org/sis/lhrb/Cohenessayprocapp.pdf.

The essay competition is named in honor of Professor Morris Cohen, librarian, eminent scholar, and Professor Emeritus of Law at Yale Law School.  Students needing a reminder of who Mr. Cohen is need only look at their Legal Research in a Nutshell book! (Post-Stacy)
