Description

The political crisis that occurred before the Governor General prorogued the most recent legislative session on Parliament Hill caused Canadians to seek out news & analysis to better understand our political system.

The Churchill Society for the Advancement of Parliamentary Democracy, in partnership with the University of Toronto Munk Centre, has organized a free Citizens’ Forum where representatives from the three major political parties can express their views on the ?crisis? & how they believe things will unfold once Parliament resumes on the 26th.

Panelists will discuss the ?basics? of Parliamentary Democracy, parliamentary procedure, political strategy, minority governments & more. The discussion will wrap with questions from the floor.

Event organizers are honoured to announce the following panelists:

  • Patrick Boyer, Q.C. , Member of Parliament (1984-1993), Academic & Author
  • Robin Sears, Communications & Public Affairs Advisor, Former Director of the New Democratic Party, Former Chief of Staff to Bob Rae (1985-1990) & Former Diplomat
  • Sean Conway, Member of Provincial Parliament (1975-2003), Former Minister of Education, Mines, Skills Development and Colleges and Universities, Public Policy Advisor & Academic
  • Hon. Pauline Browes, P.C. Member of Parliament (1984-1993), Former Minister of Environment, Employment and Immigration and Indian Affairs and Northern Development

Please note that event popularity & venue capacity require all attendees to RSVP in advance.  There is also a Facebook page for this event.
