Thanks to Ed for inviting me to guest-blog. I live just outside of D.C., where it's supposed to be frigid this week, and where they're shutting down just about major artery in the city for the inauguration, so I'm envious of Ed's poker vacation to Vegas.

Quick intro: I'm Radley Balko. I'm a senior editor for Reason magazine, and run my own blog at TheAgitator.com. I also write a bi-weekly column for FoxNews.com. I bloviate about all sorts of issues from a libertarian perspective, but my general beat is investigative journalism focusing on civil liberties and criminal justice issues. Over the last few years, I've written extensively about police militarization and misconduct, prosecutorial misconduct, and problems with forensics and expert testimony in the criminal justice system. I won't bore you with much more than that. If you're interested, you can read up at my Reason bio, here.

I've admired Ed's blog for some time, so I'm honored he has asked me to contribute.
