ADVERTISEMENTS

Here are some choice quotes from an article about Wesley Snipes’ arrest for tax evasion:

Snipes…complained he was being targeted unfairly by federal prosecutors, at least partly because he is black and famous.

“It appears I’m to be the scapegoat, because there’s more public interest in ‘celebrities gone bad’ than ‘rich people being taken advantage of’…”

“Being a black male who asks questions doesn’t help the situation either. But this is a serious issue … I will abide by the law,” he said in the e-mail, adding that he was not a fugitive.

Oh, the poor, taken-advantage-of rich people! No doubt, everyone fudges on their taxes a little bit, but most Americans aren’t dumb enough to claim their entire income, much less their entire $12 million income, as non-taxable. Perhaps if you weren’t a friggin’ moron, Mr. Snipes, your problems would be solved.

And I’m sure the fact that you tried to skip out on paying taxes on $12 mil isn’t why they went after you, Mr. Snipes - it must be because you’re black, famous, and you “ask questions” about, what, the plight of the rich in America? Let me tell you how I’d much rather pay even like 75% taxes on $12mil/yr than around 30% on whatever I’ll be making when I graduate. What a jerk.
