: The Present TenseI'm the Mother Flippin' Rhymnoserous
The show follows two New Zealanders, Bret and Jermaine, who make up a two-man "digi-folk" band. The two have moved to New York City to try to "make it." The show surrounds their attempts to break through as musicians and enjoy the life that comes with being a rock star. However, these two rock stars are hardly the rock star type.
The other characters involved in the show are great compliments to Bret and Jermaine. There is there manager Murray, who works at the New Zealand consulate, the band's one fan, Mel, and their friend Dave, played by comedian Arj Barker.

I have to admit though, the first time I saw the show, I didn't really like it. But after I gave it a second try, it really grew on me, and by the 3rd episode I watched, I became totally hooked. Now, I really can't stop laughing.
The humor involved is very dry, subtle, and often weird, but man is it great. Each show has 2 songs that Bret and Jermaine sing, telling part of the story of the episode, and they are usually pretty damn hilarious. The songs range from rap, ballads, pop, R&B and everything in between.
I think if you're a fan of the British version of The Office, you'd really like this show. The deadpan humor, delivery, awkward silences, and attention to language really make this show. And if you don't enjoy that, the songs are great to watch and listen to, even if they only do make up about 5 minutes total out of the show.
So give Flight of the Conchords a try if you have HBO. It's on Sundays after Entourage, at 10:30pm.
