There are not enough expletives to express how deep my loathing is for iTunes. I don't even buy anything through it, but wrestling to keep the library updated is enough to make me want to see the Apple headquarters collapse into a pile of rubble.

Although, most of my problems are probably due to not buying anything through it. In order to use my iPod (which I appropriately named "Acquiescence"), I have to fight with software that does 100,000 things I don't want it to do. All I want is reliable file transfer, but it's so buried under buggy gimmicks and James Blunt advertisements that I can only bring myself to tangle with it about twice a year. I'm sure there's an alternative method, somewhere, but I'm too stubborn to spend my time to work around the fact that they can't make an application do what it's supposed to do.

I've never understood the appeal of the iPod, and I bought mine under duress. But truly: the supporting software sucks, the hardware interface sucks, it manages files worse than any other application I use, and the thing is basically designed to self-destruct when the battery dies. I can't wait to set it on fire and buy something else.
