News Articles that Make You Think?

ADVERTISEMENTS

On November 24, the Associated Press reported that President Bush granted pardoned to fourteen individuals, including three convicted of environmental crimes.  The full story is at   http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27895909.

Of those pardoned were Leslie Owen Collier of Charleston, Missouri (convicted for unauthorized use of a pesticide and violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act); Milton Kirk Cordes of Rapid City, South Dakota (convicted of conspiracy to violate the Lacey Act, which prohibits importation into the country of wildlife taken in violation of conservation laws); and Daniel Figh Pue III of Conroe, Texas (convicted of the illegal treatment, storage and disposal of a hazardous waste without a permit).

The presidential power to pardon is set out in the Constitution and is absolute (which means it is not subject to review).

And . . ..

On December 10, 2008, the USEPA rolled out its ?Most Wanted List.?  You can view the list at http://www.epa.gov/fugitives.  The AP also reported on that development and you can review the story at http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/12/10/america/enviro.php.

Do you think there is any chance President Bush will pardon any of these guys?

More later.
