: Cleveland Law Library WeblogOhio Sole Northern State Executing Prisoners
By Cleveland Law Library
According to Fox News and others, a new study issued by the Death Penalty Information Center indicates that the vast majority of executions of prisoners occurs in the South, especially Texas. According to the study, Ohio is apparently the only northern state that has executed prisoners this year since the United States Supreme Court decided the Baze case this spring, holding that lethal injections do not violate prohibitions against cruel and unusual punishment in the Eighth Amendment.
