: ACS BlogNew Members, Chair Selected for ACS Board of Directors
ACS at a recent Board of Directors meeting announced four new Board members and a new Board chairman to take effect in Jan. 2009. The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times took note of the announcement, saying “the new board now faces the task of translating its influence in liberal legal circles into tangible policy outcomes ….”
The new Board members are Peter B. Edelman, a professor of law at the Georgetown University Law Center, Dennis Herrera, city attorney of San Francisco, Judith L. Lichtman, a senior adviser at the National Partnership for Women and Families, and Abner J. Mikva, a former appeals court judge, member of Congress and White House Counsel. The Board also announced that Board member Goodwin Liu, associate dean and professor law at the UC Berkeley School Law, will become the new chair, succeeding Paul M. Smith, whose three-year term has ended. Smith remains on the Board. For bios of the new Board members and chairman, see the ACS press release.
