Legal Ethics: New Editors, Renewed Energy

ADVERTISEMENTS

(How's that for a slogan?  Maybe if the law professor thing doesn't work out, I can get a job with an ad agency.)

I wanted to post something here to welcome the new General Editor and Articles Editor of Legal Ethics, Christine Parker of the University of Melbourne, and Duncan Webb of the University of Canterbury (lately on loan to the New Zealand Dept. of Justice).  Legal Ethics is an international, interdisciplinary journal publishing articles on legal ethics from doctrinal, empirical, and other theoretical perspectives.  Christine and Duncan have been given the task of building on the work of founding editors Kim Economides and Julian Webb.  Janine Griffiths-Baker is staying on as Ethics in Practice editor, and I will continue as book reviews editor.  Christine and Duncan will be assisted by an exceptional Advisory Board comprised of leading scholars from all over the world.

We would like to invite authors to submit articles to Legal Ethics.  We offer several advantages, including blind peer review (no more trying to convince third-year law students that you're writing about something important), professional editing (no more pointless arguments with second-year law students about whether you need a parenthetical after your cite to The Concept of Law), an international audience of scholars and practitioners, and an interdisciplinary approach to the subject.  Articles are ordinarily 8,000 to 10,000 words.  Articles may be submitted by email to the journal, or by email to Christine.  In addition, Christine has invited proposals for symposia or special issues.  I'll also put in a plug for proposals for book reviews:  If you are either a book author or an interested reviewer of a new book on legal ethics, please feel free to send me an email.

One of the issues the new editors have been working to address is electronic access to the journal.  Hart Publishers has recently moved all its online content, including Legal Ethics, to Ingenta, a service available through many law libraries.  In addition, content older than 12 months will be available on HeinOnline, and forthcoming content will be available on SSRN.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or Christine if you have any questions, comments, or would like to submit your work to Legal Ethics.
