: Bailout ReportCould the Economic Crisis Be Sowing Seeds of Discontent?

First, the National Intelligence Council releases a report describing how US influence is declining. Now the Russian propagandists are piling on the US’s own critical self-reflection by predicting the collapse and breakup of the United States into as many as six parts. According to Russian information warfare expert Igor Panarin:
The dollar isn?t secured by anything…. It is already collapsing… three of the largest and oldest five banks on Wall Street have already ceased to exist, and two are barely surviving… We will see is a change in the regulatory system on a global financial scale: America will no longer be the world’s financial regulator.
The financial problems in the U.S. will get worse… Millions of citizens there have lost their savings… Prices and unemployment are on the rise… General Motors and Ford are on the verge of collapse, and this means that whole cities will be left without work…. Dissatisfaction is growing, and at the moment it is only being held back by the elections and the hope that Obama can work miracles. But by spring, it will be clear that there are no miracles.
The U.S. will fracture into six parts: - the Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population; the South, with its Hispanics; Texas, where independence movements are on the rise; the Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality; five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and the northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong.
Could the financial crisis lead to the type of breakdown in civil order that would lead to a dissolution of the United States? The discrepancy between the federal government’s perceived generosity towards Wall Street with it’s multi-trillion dollar subsidies and relative stinginess towards blue collar Detroit over which it is still dragging it’s feet, could make following headlines from Europe seem tame.

Also brings to mind the Jesusland Red State vs. Blue State electoral maps circulating after Bush’s last inland dominance over Kerry’s coastal victories. While those maps emphasized regional cultural differences, it is quite possible the current recession will create pressures that bring economic inequities between different regions to the surface. Some of our favorite thought provoking maps:
