From the Associated Press via Yahoo! News: "Stocks decline but come off early lows," by Tim Paradis--
Stocks extended their decline Wednesday, with investors uneasy after reports from big names like Apple Inc. and Motorola Inc. dashed any notion that the Federal Reserve's emergency rate cut could in short order patch up the economy.
In late morning trading, the Dow Jones industrial average, down nearly 265 points early in the session, recovered to a loss of 158.35, or 1.32 percent, at 11,812.84. Broader stock indicators also declined. The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 22.87, or 1.75 percent, to 1,287.63, and the Nasdaq composite index slid 60.11, or 2.62 percent, to 2,232.16.
