Dodd, Lieberman, Obama, and Martin

ADVERTISEMENTS
More ideas for Lieberman to stay in the Dem caucus.

1. Lieberman still has friends in the Democratic caucus. Like Chris Dodd, his colleague in the Connecticut Senate:

"[Obama's] talked about reconciliation, healing, bringing people together. I don't think he'd necessarily want to spend the first month of this president-elect period, this transition period, talking about a Senate seat, particularly if someone is willing to come forward and is willing to be a member of your family in the caucus in that sense."

2. Obama doesn't want to campaign for Martin in Georgia, out of fear of having his first month as President-elect involve getting his hands dirty in a Senate campaign where, guess what, McCain is campaigning for the Republican.

Who should go then? Well, why not Lieberman, to oppose McCain? If Lieberman tries to help the Dems get to 60 (including *himself* of course), maybe he can earn enough goodwill from Reid to keep his chairmanships.
