The Center for Public Education reported on one school district's after school program, which is boosting both student achievment and community involvement.
The Waukegan Public School District in Illinois has the Successfully Targeting and Reaching Students program, also known as S.T.A.R.S, which offers after-school homework and enrichment activies with a focus on lifeskills and futuring planning.
S.T.A.R.S was created from a 21st Century Community Learning Center initiative and has proven to keep students in school and learning through inspiring them to achieve academically to reach their dreams.
BoardBuzz is impressed with the district's passion to reach out to students. For more information on the program and the positive impact its having on students and the community, be sure to check out the link to the Center for Public Education's Web site.
