The Winner: America

It's been an exciting night. I'm not saying "America" is the winner because Barack Obama is being elected President of the United States. This isn't about whether he's the better option, although of course I have my thoughts about that question. Those will be for another day. I'm saying America wins because we get to do this every four years, and it's a great testament to the strength of our democracy. A wise man once said that the sun don't shine on the same dog's ass every day. Another wise man once said you should make hay while the sun shines. I'm mixing metaphors horribly here, but the point is that McCain supporters can console themselves with the knowledge that the world turns, the tides come in and out, and nobody stays on top forever. Obama supporters now have their chance to make hay, so don't waste the daylight.
